Texas Teachers and Parents Unite for Medical Freedom at Dallas Summit — July 17, 2026
What Texas Teachers Told Jackie Schlegel at the Teacher Freedom Summit in Dallas
I went to the Teacher Freedom Summit expecting to make the case for healthier classrooms. Instead, the teachers made it for me. I sat with educators who have taught for twenty and thirty years. They are tired of watching kids come to school sick and unable to focus. They want better food in the cafeteria. They want parents welcomed into the building, not pushed out of it. Several told me they want the freedom to teach without a mandate hanging over their own heads.
The teachers aren’t the obstacle. The bureaucracy stacked on top of them is. It buries the smallest change in years of process, and no teacher can move it alone. Neither can any parent. Together, we can. Parents call the shots on their kids’ health. But healthier classrooms take parents and teachers standing on the same side. Sign the Medical Freedom Pledge.
